In this episode of Novelbound, a book podcast, Celine and Anna start a new segment called, if you liked that, read this. They recommend new books based on past books they loved.

First, they bring on their first ever guest on the podcast, Katie from @katieelizabeth_reads. Katie is from Oxford, England and is studying publishing. Katie shares her embarrassing secret, she used to write Harry Styles fanfiction when was 15. It was so popular it had over 200,000 readers and still has people messaging her for the next book.

Celine kicks off the episode by recommending a book series for all the Harry Potter fans, called I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You by Ally Carter, the first book in the Gallagher Girls series. Celine says, it’s like “Hogwarts, but for spies”. Gallagher Academy is like any other school if that school, ‘…taught advanced martial arts in PE and the latest in chemical warfare in science, and students received extra credit for breaking CIA codes in computer class.’ Cammie learns to navigate a ‘normal’ life and struggles to convince a boy she’s normal and not a spy all while possessing skills necessary to kill a man. While Gallagher Academy may be some kid’s dream schools it becomes evident that the school is much more.’ (synopsis from goodreads.com)

Anna shares her recommendations next, on the book podcast, if you loved Percy Jackson, read The Alchemyst Series. A fictitious novel and the first of the series, The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. She notes, to not go into this book series with any preconceived notions of Nicholas Flamel from Harry Potter. Nicholas Flamel was born in 1330, and was said to be the greatest alchemyst of his time. Some say he found the secret to eternal life, and allegedly died in 1413, but his tomb is empty. This story follows a pair of friends who try to find the book Flamel protects with his life that contains the secret to eternal life. Such a fun read, and part of a series!

Katie shares her recommendations next on the book podcast, if you read and loved City of Bones, read Hush Hush. A fiction novel about forbidden love and fallen angels. There are four books in the series, and as you read, more of the world gets uncovered. Romance was not part of Nora Grey’s plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment

Listen to the latest episode of Novelbound, all about embarrassing moments, and book recommendations for days.
